KUMABLOG OTHER POSTS ![]() Update 9/16/05 Welcome, my friend, to the very first entry of the KUMABLOG. With the release of our first full-length CD and the relaunch of this website to coincide, now seemed as good a time as any to dip my toe into the already over-populated waters of online journals. The purpose of this blog is simply to provide a little behind-the-scenes insight into what we're doing, what we're trying to do, what we're listening to, and most importantly, who we're having sex with. A promotional tool, if you will. If you find it entertaining and it gives you a reason to keep visiting the site, mission accomplished. I will do my best to avoid the following blog characteristics I find most annoying: A) Opinion-stated-as-fact snarkiness. B) Self indulgence above and beyond the call of what is inherently required by a journal such as this. You be the judge! C) An itemized list of what I had for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Though the salmon and mixed vegetables I had last night was fantastic. But seriously, folks, we're really excited to finally have a CD we can share with you, a new website that is a bit easier on the eyes, and this forum where we can literally and figuratively expose ourselves to you (nude photos from that trip to Amsterdam are on the way) . Hey, did you know that Neil had knee surgery just last month? Not two weeks later, he was on that stool again, tearing you all a new one. See - it's this kind of quality, behind-the-scenes information you can only get via KUMABLOG. Though "tearing you all a new one" isn't really appropriate, as most of you were already out of town for Labor Day Weekend (or out of the country, for that matter. We're working on that "Kuma Over Europe 2006" tour as I write this). But for those of you that DID come, you all had new ones torn and loved every minute of it. You're welcome! Everyone likes lists, right? Admit it, you're a list dork. Here's your list, dork. Introducing the first YOU DIDN'T ASK ME, BUT I'M TELLING YOU ANYWAY list of current listening fare: 1) Autechre/Basscad EP - sounds like parts of Kid A without vocals, several years earlier, to these ears. 2) Big Star/first three studio albums - had "Sister Lovers" on tape for ages, finally got all three on CD and into the poddy pod. Chris Bell's "I Am The Cosmos", too. 2) Nico/Chelsea Girl - have you ever heard her single "I'm Not Saying", which isn't on this album? I love that one. 3) Irreversible (Soundtrack) - Guy from Daft Punk guy getting all creepy. It's a tough film to get through, but worth it. Vincent Cassel is one lucky bastard. 4) Blow Up (Soundtrack) - One of my favorite films. Herbie (Hancock) brings it. 5) Buffalo Springfield/Again - those Stills songs aren't that bad, either. 6) Rough Trade Shops, Counter Culture '03 and '04 - Getting Kuma on the '05 edition would be quite a coup. Picked these up in London over the summer. 7) Jorge Reyes/Prehispanic Rituals - watch your friend's dogs for a couple of days and you get cool stuff from Mexico. 8) Lightning Bolt/some live tracks - ...I illegally downloaded a long time ago. Come and get me, RIAA. 9) MOJO Chess Classics - Bo Diddley's a Gun Slinger! 10) Bach/Brandenburg Concertos - um, I think it's safe to say the guy had talent. Okay, enough of my yappin'. Any questions? Queries? Complaints? Don't even start with me about blogware. One step at a time, alright? E-mail me at kumarocksu@yahoo.com
I leave you with a recent pic from my aforementioned UK excursion. That's my friend Najma. She rocks. She's also getting married to a fine young man from Scotland, so cut it out. Love, Kevin |
